SCIAMACHY support for MILAGRONews Introduction Data Links Contact News:
Introduction:As part of the Megacity Initiative: Local and Global Research Observations (MILAGRO), a large campaign in the Mexico City area and Veracruz takes place in March 2006. The goal of MILAGRO is to conduct measurements of pollutants and other trace gases, aerosol particles, and to study the atmospheric processes leading to the formation of secondary aerosols from precursor gases, and the transport and transformations of these gases and aerosols on local, regional, and global scales. This will be accompanied by modelling studies that will integrate this vast amount of information into new insights on the chemistry of the atmosphere in a large urbanized region, as well as the impact of these on larger geographical scales. The Intercontinental Chemical Transport Experiment – Phase B (INTEX-B) will emphasize the regional-to-global aspect of MILAGRO with observations from two aircraft, a DC-8 and a J-31, as well as satellites. More on MILAGRO can be found here. In support of MILAGRO and INTEX-B, the Institute of Environmental Physics at the University of Bremen is providing near real time images of tropospheric NO2 and H2O from SCIAMACHY measurements. The plots are meant as quick look analysis and numbers will change in post campaign analysis. Data:The IUP-Bremen SCIAMACHY data products for the MILAGRO and INTEX-B campaigns, currently NO2 and H2O, are directly accessible via the SCIAMACHY data browser page. These plots are produced automatically and are based on SCIAMACHY raw data. Usually, plots should be available with a delay of one day. If you experience any problems, please contact Andreas Heckel. In addition all currently processed data products from SCIAMACHY can be found in the SCIAMACHY Data Archive of IUP / ife Bremen. More data is available in our group off-line. If you have any requests, please contact Andreas Heckel. Links:
